Tuesday – June 14th – James 1:22     -----

1:22)   But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MELODY OF PRAISE IS BEST PLAYED WITH THE NOTES OF PRAISE, ADORATION, CONFESSION, AND THANKSGIVING.*

Happy Tuesday to you! Our inspirational thought for today interestingly falls on a Tuesday. Why is that interesting you might ask? Great question! Tuesdays by and large are not typically thought of as a full on “praise” day in the normal week. Yet, in our inspirational thought we are encouraged to praise God, and then are given an explanation of God centered praise. In addition to praising God for our gift of eternal life, true praise includes adoration, confession, and thanksgiving as a way to round out the fullness of worship. I readily admit that my praise time can often lack the inclusion of confession. Not that I don’t understand the importance of confession, but it feels awkward to fit it in with praise, adoration, and thanksgiving. Confession seems to have its own separate and unique place – dealing with the ugly parts of life – best done apart from praise. With this inspirational thought embedded in the reading of the book of Psalms we are encouraged to see that God desires confession to be part of praise because God is willing to forgive us, so then we have even more to praise Him about. Makes sense now!

In our pick verse for today we focus on one of the great memory verses from the book of James. I must admit that with every verse of this book I can still hear in the back of my mind hundreds of middle school church camp kids rattling off these verses they had committed to memory for the weekly Bible Bowl competition. Today’s verse is James being James – simple, practical, and straightforward. Our Christian life begins, and remains, in knowing what God wants us to do as a follower of Jesus. Christianity is a life of taking what we hear about Jesus and transitioning that in being active in Kingdom work. While it can be impressive to quote scripture and explain theology, we only please Jesus when we put His words into life-changing actions. What actions await you this week to help populate the Kingdom of Heaven?

Blessings
