Tuesday – June 21st – James 2:5     -----

2:5)     Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE PERSON WHO WILL NOT COMMAND HIS OR HER THOUGHTS WILL SOON LOSE COMMAND OF HIS OR HER ACTIONS.*

Happy Tuesday to you my blog reading friends!  Today is also the first day of summer 2022 and it seems we will appropriately welcome it with triple digit temperatures. Stay cool and stay safe this week! What a great inspirational though for us today. Every action we take in life is first conceived in our minds and then birthed through the processing of our thoughts. If we need to control our actions, we must first begin by controlling our thoughts. The enemy of righteousness knows the reality of this statement and works hard to tempt us by planting seeds of doubt and selfishness in our minds. Once in our minds the devil steps back and lets us take over transitioning from mind to action. In a few chapters James will remind us that when we recognize the devil is at work – he will flee from us.

In our pick verse today, James continues his teaching of how, as Christian, we are not to show any partiality in our relationships with other people. When James speaks about the poor, he is talking about those who have no money and also about those whose simple faith values are despised by much of their/our affluent society. We should understand that the “poor” of this world may prefer serving others instead of managing, investing in human relationships over financial security, experiencing the power of a peaceful life over the peacelessness that often accompanies power. This doesn’t mean that the poor will automatically go to Heaven, and the rich to Hell. Poor people are usually more aware of their powerlessness. Thus, it is often easier for them to acknowledge their need for salvation. One of the greatest barriers to accepting God’s gift of salvation is our human pride. On the other hand, for the poor, bitterness can often bar the way to acceptance of salvation. Let us work hard to remove both pride and bitterness for our life and lifestyle.

Blessings
