Tuesday – June 28th – James 2:17     ------

2:17)   Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD’S WORK OF CREATION IS DONE; OUR WORK OF PRAISING IS JUST BEGUN.*

Happy Tuesday! Our inspirational thought for today reminds us that as a follower of Jesus we have the opportunity to be engaged in the full-time work of praising God for the beauty of His creation. Often in our busy lives and overflowing schedules we can miss taking a moment to look around and enjoy the marvelous work of God in every nook and cranny of creation. God is the master of all creation – no matter in which direction we look there on display for us is the unique and perfect craftsmanship of the Almighty. Oh, and don’t forget to also take a moment or two to glance in the mirror and see one of God’s greatest works of arts.

In our pick verse for today James goes straight to the heart of his teaching on both the importance and the order of faith and belief. James’ insistence that faith without the corresponding display of works is indicative of a dead faith at worse, or an immature faith at best. There is a classic song from the late 1980s by Rich Mullins that states “faith without works is as useless as a screen door on a submarine”. The first verse ends with this convicting statement – “I think you need some works to show for your alleged faith”. Many of us can talk a good game of faith, but until we put it into action, we have done nothing to provide substance to our words. It is understood that we cannot earn our salvation by serving and obeying God. But such actions show that our commitment to God comes from a genuine place of faith. Deeds of loving service are not a substitute for, but rather a verification of our faith in Jesus. How do you best express the reality of your faith through doing good deeds for others?

Blessings
