Wednesday – July 6th – James 3:2 -----
3:2) For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
3) Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
DON’T PLAN ON REPENTING TOMORROW; TODAY MIGHT BE YOUR LAST.*
Welcome to Wednesday! Let’s jump right into our inspirational thought for today. The entirety of God’s unconditional love for each of us is contained in this short statement. Our very nature as human beings place us at odds with the one who created us – Psalm 139 states God knitted us together in our mother’s womb. Because God created us and loves us unconditionally, we have been given the opportunity to be returned to a right relationship with Him. When we acknowledge that we have sinned and are in need of saving, God removes the guilt of our sin, and we are made right with Him. This opportunity is available now and should not be put off until tomorrow. We never know if we have tomorrow, or even an hour from now. Is it worth risking an eternity apart from God by putting off until tomorrow what should be done today? If you know of someone who has yet to say yes to Jesus – put them on the top of your prayer list today, don’t wait for tomorrow.
In our pick verses today James jumps headlong into his warnings of the dangers of the human tongue. James’ concern with the tongue is not as a physical item of the human body, but as the place where our words pass from us and on to the ears of others. James suggests what you say and what you don’t say are both important. To use proper speech, you must not only say the right words at the right time but also not say what you shouldn’t. Examples of untamed tongue include gossiping, putting others down, bragging, manipulating, false teachings, exaggerating, complaining, flattering, or lying. Before you speak, ask is what I want to say true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?
Blessings
