Thursday – July 14th – James 3:13     -----

3:13)   Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, BUT IT IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THEY HAVE.*

Good Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought for today is spot on in its accuracy to describe the culture we live in today. I know that God has blessed me in so many ways. I have an awesome family, a great church, good health, and all of my basic needs for life fully met. And I am sure that many of you could probably say the same thing. However, in spite all that we do have, the job description of the evil one is to tempt us in the area of discontentment. Frist, the devil distracts us from even slowing down to take inventory of the blessings we do have, which opens the door for us to want more. Second, we are easily motivated by the devil to see what someone else might have and in our minds manipulate reality to justify our deserving the same items. All this to say we do more to validate the inspirational thought than to contradict its principle.

In our pick verse today, James moves on from his powerful teaching that warns us on how we should focus on controlling our tongues. He now introduces the importance of our possessing both earthly and heavenly wisdom. Both the scriptures and ancient philosophers placed a high premium on wisdom, which, broadly defined is not simply a matter of possessing factual knowledge, but of properly and effectively applying truth to everyday life. For the early church, wisdom was more succinctly defined as the nature in which seasoned leaders and teachers would relate to those converting to a faith in Christ. James states that the measure of wisdom can be found in the good conduct expressed through gentleness, self-control, good behavior, and an understand spirit. The goal of every leader, actual every Christian, is to be an example of the spirit of God that resides in us. As a follower of Jesus, we are instructed to live our lives by displaying wise thought and an understanding heart. Look around today and let God’s love flow through you.

Blessings
