Sunday – July 17th – James 3:16     -----

316)  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
KNOWLEDGE HUMBLES THE GREAT, ASTONISHES THE AVERAGE, AND PUFFS UP THE SMALL-MINDED.*

Great day Sunday to you! Worshiping God is always a top priority for us believers on this day of the week. Hope your weekend has been blessed and you have been a blessing to others! I typically don’t include personal dates in this blog, but today I will make an exception to the rule. Today, Beth and I are celebrating our forty-first wedding anniversary! I could share a bunch of mushy stuff and acknowledge that her and I could easily debate on who got the better end of the deal. Our forty-one years of marriage are probably like everyone else who reaches this mark – filled with ups and downs, times of learning and unlearning, plenty of hopes and dreams for the future. Someday we might even write a book or teach a class on marriage, but we still have a lot yet to discover before that time comes. What I do know for certain - we are more in love today than on July 17th, 1981, and that we cherish every minute we can spend together.

Our pick verse for today might sound remotely familiar as it was one of our honorable mention verses for our recent “3:16 Believer” series. The one thing I love about the book of James is that he pulls no punches or sugar-coats his thoughts. For him it is what it is. James teaches that envy and a self-seeking agenda have no place in the life of a Christian or relationships within a church community. Self-seeking is not from God. It is earthly because it is a direct reflection of this world’s distorted point of view. Self-seeking is the nature of a fallen people who have given into the misguided teachings of those who reject the Bible and all biblical principles for life, and life eternal. No matter how it is sliced, the end result of when envy and self-seeking try to be in charge is confusion and chaos. Just say no!

Blessings

Happy Anniversary to you and Beth. I'm sure you agree with me that Beth & Sandi got the better end of the deal.
