Sunday – July 24th – James 4:7     -----

4:7) Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
NO ONE EVER REPENTED OF BEING A CHRISTIAN ON HIS OR HER DEATHBED.*

Happy Sunday to you! I hope you have been able to stay safe and cool from the dangerous heat this weekend. Sure, slows done projects and activities planned for the outdoors. One place that is comfortably cool – yes, the left-side AC in the worship space is fixed – is with us today in worship. Plus, it is Cin-Mini Sunday at SunRise today. The infamous Cin-Mini cinnamon rolls from The Bridge Bread will be available (free) throughout the morning. Also, today between each of the worship services the SunRise Administrative Leadership Team (SALT) will host their quarterly “What’s Up SunRise” informational meetings. 8am folks head to room 215 and 9:45am attendees just stay in the worship space.

In our pick verse today, James shares with us the believer’s weapon against the schemes of the devil. This is one of my top ten verses in the Bible simply because of the wisdom it contains to be successful in spiritual warfare. This verse is a jammed packed two-part message, and as such I have decided to cover this verse over two days. The first part powerfully states that we are to submit ourselves to the Lord. I must admit that I often bypass this part of the verse to get to the second part, but it deserves and requires our full consideration if we are to successfully implement James’ instructions to fight the devil. This part of the verse speaks directly to our human will. When we submit the entirety of our life to God, we will reap the blessings of God’s promises. The word submit, or submission, is not an easy word to accept in our society today, especially when our flawed human examples fail to live up to the example of God. Biblical submission is when we willingly yield our agendas and our self-centered desires over to God. No one can be saved without first submitting themselves to God’s word, God’s way, God’s will for their lives. When we resist submitting or only partially submit ourselves to God we have opened the door for a life peaceless existence. Only when we make a full and complete submission of ourselves to God can we be prepared for the battles of spiritual warfare. Before we move to the second part of this verse tomorrow, send some time reflecting on the current depth of your submission to God.

Blessings
