Friday – July 29th – James 4:13-16     -----

4:13) Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”
14) Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
15) Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
16) As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
     CHRIST’S BLOOD IS HEAVEN’S KEY.*

Happy Friday to you! Wow another week has flown by. My prayer is that you have been able to make the most of every opportunity and/or situation God has placed you in this week. Our inspirational verse certainly qualifies as one of the non-negotiables of the Christian faith. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross opened the door for God to forgive us of our sins. Because of our sins we are separated from God with no human option for reconnecting. With our lives stained by sin we are unable to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. However, because of His great love for us, God took the initiative and through self-sacrifice paid the penalty of our sins. While this is one of the non-negotiables of the Christian faith, the other is that we must accept and agree with what God has done. When we accept, we receive the awesome key to enter heaven. My prayer is that everyone who reads today’s blog will know, believe, and accept what God has done for us.

In our pick verses today, James warns us about the danger of having an inflated self-confidence. It is always good and important to make plans for our lives, but without God included in the planning we will eventually be disappointed with or feel shortchanged by the outcome. There is no point in making plans as though God does not exist, because every moment of the future is in His hands. We should always be ready to plan ahead but at the same time we need to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to insure we are including God’s will for our lives and the lives of others. How flexible are you when it comes to adjusting your plans when God places roadblocks or opens other doors?

Blessings
