Wednesday – August 10th – James 5:15     -----

5:15) Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FAITH, LIKE A MUSCLE, GROWS BY STRETCHING.*

Welcome to Wednesday! Another thought-provoking inspirational thought today. As I unpack this thought, I think about the opposite of this statement. What happens if we never allow our faith to be stretched? Will the result be a shrinking of faith? In the physical body, a muscle that is dormant, in some cases for as little as 72 hours, falls into a condition known as atrophy – which simply means it loses its ability to function at its previous level. Other muscles may take longer to reach this state of wasting away from prolonged disuse. Either way the result is the same, but in many cases reversible with renewed exercise for the muscle(s) in question. When our faith is stretched outside our personal comfort zones than it is receiving the necessary challenges required to make it stronger. How has your faith been stretched lately?

In our pick verse today, we continue James’ teaching on praying for those who are sick. James boldly leaves the promise unqualified that the prayer of the faithful will save the sick. Be he and his readers knew that not every sickness was healed. When the power of prayer is correctly taught, the condition “if it be God’s will” must always be understood. We should never underestimate the power of our prayers and yet never overestimate our influence in the outcome. All things are done to the glory of God and within the perfect will of God. The second half of this verse fits more with the next verse, so we will address it tomorrow.

Blessings
