Saturday – August 13th – James 5:19     -----

5:19)  My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back,

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A CHRISTIAN SHOULD SHOW MORE CONCERN FOR PEOPLE THAN FOR CREEDS.*

Yes, it is Saturday and yes, it is the weekend! And another great weekend of fun at SunRise. In worship on Sunday, we jump into week number three of our “Be The Change” series. How exciting to be challenged from scripture on how you and I can make a difference in people’s lives. This week our area of change will focus on moving for informing people about who Jesus is, to equipping them to serve Jesus out in the world. The western culture puts a high value on knowing things, which of course is good and necessary to understand what is expected of us. However, many times a person’s faith journey can become comfortable in just knowing about Jesus. A growing disciple will seek to identify gifts, sharpen their skills, and then deploy themselves into making a difference. Which by the way ties in nicely with our inspirational thought.

In our pick verse today, James introduces another practical aspect of our role as a follower of Jesus. Yes, it is possible for a born-again believer to fall back into a life of sin. And yes, if that person pushes their rejection of God’s word, will, and way to the breaking point they can lose their salvation. As Wesleyans we are not a once saved always saved people. It is possible for believers to intentionally and willfully break their connection to God, yet it is impossible for God to break His connection to us. When we see someone struggling in their faith, God can use us to reach out and speak the truth in love. Our Christian duty is to try and turn a person back in the direction of Jesus. Having a true concern for the spiritual welfare of others is the responsibility of every Christian, not just pastors or church leaders.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
