Thursday – August 18th – 1 Peter 1:3-4     -----

3) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,
4) and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE BEST WAY TO KEEP TEENS AT HOME IS TO MAKE HOME PLEASANT— AND LET THE AIR OUT OF THE TIRES.*

Hola Thursday. Some days our inspirational thought can provide a chuckle while also driving home a powerful point. Today I chuckled as I first read and then later realized the truth in the statement. For those raising teens and pre-teens it is a most daunting job, probably harder than in any previous generation. While each of us, regardless of our ages, could spin stories of how tough we had it as teens, we were not bombarded by the preputial availability of distractions at our fingertips. Computers and phones, that double as computers, has made the job of parenting increasingly more difficult and challenging with each passing year. The serious point in our inspirational thought is to create a safe place for our kids that they come to appreciate and enjoy. I for one know that when we include a biblical/spiritual component to our home environment then we have raised the probability of producing a pleasant atmosphere at home. But my friends it first starts with us and our own relationship with Jesus long before we can share it with our kids.

In our pick verses today, Peter introduces his first major topic in this letter. Peter champions the theological understanding that our salvation can bring us great joy even in times of suffering. Peter begins this teaching by thanking God for the sure and certain hope that, as believers, we have in Jesus. Our Christian hope is not mere wishful thinking on our part, but a living reality rooted in the power of the One who was dead but now lives. Peter being a firsthand eyewitness to both the death of Jesus and His resurrection speaks as one with authority and confidence. While the Jewish people had previously received the Promised Land as an earthly inheritance, Christians received God’s promise of an eternal inheritance undefiled by human sin. Through our belief in the risen Christ, we will experience the joy of a forever and unbroken fellowship with God in Heaven.

Blessings
