Friday – August 19th – 1 Peter 1:5-6     -----

5) And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.
6) So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
REPENTANCE MAY BE OLD-FASHIONED, BUT IT IS NOT OUTDATED SO LONG AS THERE IS SIN.*

Aloha Friday. Have you caught the expansion to an international theme with our greetings?  And just like that it is the end of the week for those in a traditional work environment. Just curious how many of you blog readers still are part of a traditional Monday-Friday job routine?  For pastors that workflow really doesn’t apply since Sunday is one of our big days. Different schedules within today’s world make it a challenge for folks to follow traditional patterns of a Sunday sabbath day. So, the question of the day is when do you find time to remember the sabbath and keep it holy (commandment #4 in Exodus 20)? Our strength comes from spending quality time with God which is over and above daily devotions, daily Bible readings, and daily prayers. The more time we spend with God the more refreshed we are to be fruitful in our interactions with the world.

In our pick verses today, Peter continues his teaching on finding joy in the midst of suffering. If we continue to trust in God’s word, God’s way, and God’s will for our lives, then God’s power will enable us to receive the completion of our promised salvation when it is revealed in its fulness at Jesus’ return. It is our trusting in God’s promises that provide us the strength to endure the sufferings that may come in this lifetime. Peter’s understanding that we may suffer for a “little while” is drawn in comparison to an eternity in Heaven, thus this the time of earthly suffering is easily deemed as short. Also, while we are still earthly creatures, our joy in Jesus far exceeds any trials we may face. We have been assured of the victory, so we just need to play out the game. Knowing we have already won takes away the sting of any challenges along the way.

Blessings
