Saturday – August 20th – 1 Peter 1:7     -----

7) These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
UNDERSTANDING GOD’S GRACE IN YOUR LIFE IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARD TRUE HUMILITY.*

Bonjour Saturday!  In continuing our international welcoming theme, your part is to respond by letting me know the country the greeting comes from. Worship this weekend continues our SunRise series on “Be The Change”. How many times might we observe something and know that it isn’t exactly right. We might even know what needs to be done to make that “something” more efficient. But many times, we find ourselves reluctant to initiate the necessary changes because we have neither the required energy, effort, or time. This series is all about how, when we work together, we can overcome any of the individual obstacles we may face and pool together our resources to make a difference where it counts. This weekend we will explore how we change from a program methodology to a people focus. Join us inbuilding Sunday or online to learn how we are better together.

In our pick verse today, Peter dives deep into encouraging believers to endure through times of challenge and sufferings. True faith is that which is still in place, standing strong, after the artificial layers have been stripped away by trials and testing. The Christian who proves faithful through trails will receive God’s praise at Jesus’ return and will share personally in God’s own honor and glory. Peter is clear to his original readers, and it is still true for us today, that suffering for the sake of the Gospel is an unavoidable part of the Christian life. Suffering for the gospel is far different than the sufferings we may encounter in our personal life that come through decisions that stand outside the word, way, and will of God. Once I differentiate between the two, I find strength to endure the former and conviction to avoid the latter.

Blessings
