Tuesday – August 23rd – 1 Peter 1:12     -----

12)They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
ONE THING YOU CAN GIVE AND STILL KEEP IS YOUR WORD.*

Mbote! Tuesday. Our international greetings are moving toward more challenging dialects over the next few days. Good luck! The inspirational thought for today sounds a whole lot like the wisdom my dad gave me when I was in my early teens. The wisdom from way back then still holds true to this day and has been shared with my children when they were young, and now with my grandchildren. I don’t need to tell you the importance of these words in our world today. We have almost been reprogramed to doubt everything we hear and most things we see. May God work through us that our word is true and our respect for others remains above reproach.

In our scripture verse for today Peter connects the words of the Old Testament prophets with the reality of Jesus being the long-awaited Messiah. The Old Testament prophecies concerning Jesus and the accompanying ministries of the Holy Spirit point entirely to the future rather than holding a relevancy to the times, situations, or people of the prophets’ days. Two powerful understandings come from their futuristic preaching. First, only God could be the source of their prophecies as only God would have the details and only God could spread out those details among multiple prophets six hundred years in advance. Second, the sheer number of prophecies fulfilled by Jesus is beyond our human calculation. There are over 400 prophecies in the Old Testament that speak of the Messiah. Even conservative estimates state that Jesus completely fulfilled over 351 of the prophecies. The mathematical possibilities of a person, over six hundred years later, fulfilling just 8 of the prophecies is calculated at 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. Imagine the number to fulfil the conservative 351 prophecies. As a frame of reference for just eight, you would stand a better change at winning the mega lottery each and every week for twenty consecutive years. Isn’t God amazing!!!

Blessings
