Kamusta Saturday is our “warm” international greeting to kick off this last weekend in August! The fifth week of our “Be The Change” series is set for this weekend with an intentional focus on changing from the busyness of activities to enjoying the power within relationships. Hope to see you in-building at either 8am or 9:45am or hang with you online or on demand. Our inspirational thought for today is a great reminder of how our holiness (following the theme of 1 Peter 1) serves as a godly alternative option to what the devil suggests is in play and acceptable. You have heard me say it a thousand times and will probably hear it a thousand more times – the only Bible some people will ever read is observing your life. What might folks be reading today?
In our pick verse today, Peter lifts up the responsibility that comes with following Jesus and pursuing a holy life. Simply saying we are a follower of Jesus, without the fruit to provided evidence of a changed life, tarnishes our witness to the world. If we acknowledge God as being God, and Jesus as our Lord and savior, then our conduct is to be holy and acceptable in the eyes of God. Too many times we can worry what others might think about us so we repattern our lives to win their favor or approval. As a follower of Jesus, we need to step up our game and live for God and not others. The term “reverent fear” should not be taken as dreading but being in awe of God’s presence that leads to a desire to life as God wants us to live.
