23) For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

Salām 'alaykum Wednesday! Three days are left in our international greetings game. I hope you have enjoyed discovering how folks around the world say “hello”. The simplicity of this exercise reminds we that no matter where we live or what language we speak, deep down inside all cultures understand the importance of greeting each other in a pleasant and respectful way. It is also important to remember that despite occasional language barriers, the message of Jesus is the same for all people. If we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and has been raised from the dead, we will be saved. On this mid-week Wednesday take this simple message of Jesus and share it with others.
In our pick verse today, Peter begins to wind up his teaching on a life of holiness by reminding us that we become a new creation in Christ when we accept God’s invitation to live under His grace. Both a pure heart and a Christ-like love are impossible without our being individually born of the spirit. Being born again grants us a new citizenship in Heaven even while we are still here on earth. We can rest confidently in God’s promise of eternal life because we have the perfect assurance of His word that appeared in the person of Jesus and is contained in the Gospel which proclaims the saving work of Jesus. God looked past our sins, our rebellion, and our shortcomings to reset our relationship with Him. As in any relationship, a two-person agreement is required for it to create the best results for both people involved. Have you given your all to Jesus?
