Saturday – September 3rd – 1 Peter 2:2-3     -----

2) Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,
3) now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
BY CHASTENING, THE LORD SEPARATES THE SIN HE HATES FROM THE SINNER HE LOVES.*

An old-fashioned Good Saturday greeting to you! We have arrived at the first weekend of September and a holiday weekend to boot. When we lived at the Lake of the Ozarks, Labor Day weekend signaled the unofficial end to the summer tourist season. From here on out the weekends had fewer boats on the lake, and the year-round residents once again enjoyed the glassy calm waters of an empty lake on the weekdays. Speaking of things coming to an end, our current series “Be The Change” concludes on Sunday. This final weekend will pull together all we have covered over the last five weeks by challenging us to change the way we measure “success” in the church. Inbuilding worship is at 8am and 9:45am Sunday. Livestreaming of the 9:45am service is always followed by on-demand options that can meet your busy schedule. Join us that together we can be the change!

In our pick verses today, Peter completes his thoughts on ridding ourselves from all things evil by viewing the life of a Christian through the lens of child development. One characteristic all children share is that they want to grow up – to be like a big brother, or sister, or neighbor kid down the street, or even like their parents. When we are born into the family of God through our new life in Christ, we become spiritual newborns. If we stay focused on God, we will want to grow stronger in our discipleship walk. The need for milk is a natural instinct for a baby, it is driven by the inner desire for nourishment that will lead to growth. Once we understand our ongoing need for God’s word and begin to find spiritual nourishment in our relationship with Jesus, our spiritual appetite will both increase and will adjust to take on more solid food which leads to our personal spiritual maturity. How sad it is when people intentionally chose to not seek to grow and learn more about being a follower of Jesus. If our personally held Christian faith is to survive, we must take in the nourishment provided by the word of God.

Blessings
