10) “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.”

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
CLOSE YOUR EYES AND YOU WILL SEE EVERYTHING YOU ACTUALLY POSSESS.

Welcome to Saturday and the weekend. I am really excited about our new series that begins tomorrow at SunRise. Leap of Faith is the theme for our annual commitment series that challenges each of us to overcome our fears, anxieties, hesitations, or our excuses we harbor when it comes to serving Jesus. You can tell from the graphic chosen for this series that we will directly address the leap of faith required to excel in our serving, growing in our deeper in our discipleship, and celebrate our generosity as a person working for the Kingdom of Heaven through our individual commitment at SunRise. We will conclude this awesome series on October 2nd with church-wide baptisms, rededications, and commitments for 2023. If you have not been previously baptized, please sign up for the baptism class on the last Sunday of September following the 9:45am service – check out the “events” page on the website. On October 2nd the 9:45am service will be held out on the SunRise soccer field – please pray for great weather that day!

Our pick verse today walks hand in hand with Amos’ words and our commitment as a follower of Jesus. We humans often base the total of our self-worth on our accomplishments, our jobs, and/or our accumulated possessions. But our relationship with Jesus is far more important than anything of this earth. We have been chosen by God as His very own special creation. As such we have been called by God to represent Him to others. Remember that our value comes from being one of God’s children who have been claimed by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. You are worthy because of what God does and not because of what we do in our life, our work, or our knowledge. This can be a tough concept to grasp when the evil one is constantly bombarding us with the temptation to grab all we can to glorify ourselves. As recipients of God’s unmerited grace, we have become joint heirs in the Kingdom of Heaven. No amount of riches on this earth can even come close to what awaits us in Heaven.

Blessings
