Oh, what a great day Thursday will be! Nothing like fostering a highly positive attitude on the middle of the month Thursday. And for those who live in the world of self-employment, today is also the quarterly tax estimate day to pay. Even better today is the best day in the world to sign-up for the next membership class for SunRise Church. This class is for all folks new to SunRise, as well as, those SunRise UMC members who would like to be an official part of the new SunRise Church. Because your current UMC membership will not automatically transfer to the new church membership roll this 90-minute class is required for membership into SunRise Church. Our fall class will be Wednesday September 28th from 6:30p-8pm. This is a perfect time for parents dropping of their children for the first evening of “Seeds”. Sign-up at www.sunrisefamily.org/events and scroll to, and then click on, the membership class graphic.
In our pick verse today, Peter expands on the believer’s roll of living in a world hostile toward Christianity. It is by God’s grace we have been set free from the bondages of sin and from the pull of the grave. The freedom we have in Jesus sets us apart so that we will live as resident aliens in this world. Our new status in the Kingdom of Heaven frees us from obeying religious laws to obtain our salvation. However, we are to still obey, out of humble gratitude for the cost Jesus paid for our free salvation, the teachings of the Ten Commandments, for they are an expression of God’s will for our lives. What a blessing it is to live under the unconditional love of God that is always ready to forgive us when we do fall to the tempting of the devil.
