Good, no Great Monday to you! As this new week begins, I want to jump back in to sharing with you another of the many, many things going on at SunRise in September. Today I want to highlight our Family Ministry kick-off event this Wednesday at 6:30pm. Join us for a fun evening of fellowship as we gather around tables to play Aloha Bingo. Meet new friends, enjoy some party snacks, win some cool prizes, and hear about the exciting upcoming events in Family Ministry. In case you haven’t been properly schooled in Aloha Bingo, it is regular bingo with tropical twist. This event is for the whole family. You can sign-up on the SunRise app, or at the www.sunrisefamily.org/events page and then click on the Aloha Bingo graphic.
In our pick verse today, we continue to read how we are to live our lives above the fray of a hostile and reckless society. Little has changed since the first century in the way believers are perceived by the world around them. Today Paul encourages us to pursue a life that imitates the life of Jesus, even if following Jesus leads to our suffering or persecution. I am sure Peter had little thought that this verse would launch a best-selling book and eventually a world-wide movement based on the phrase “In His Steps”. You may be more familiar with the slogan associated with this movement -WWJD, what would Jesus do. That is a great question to keep in the forefront of our minds as we navigate this week serving the Kingdom of God.
