Thursday – September 22nd – 1 Peter 1:25     -----

2:25) Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:

SOME PEOPLE DREAM OF WORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WHILE OTHERS STAY AWAKE AND DO THEM.*

It is do something outside your comfort zone Thursday! What a neat and exciting challenge for us to embrace today. What might be God nudging you to do that is completely outside the box you define as your comfort zone. Our inspirational thought today is a great companion to this challenge. It is one thing to just think about doing something amazing and spectacular, or even normal and routine, for the Kingdom of Heaven. Getting out of our comfort zones means we take the initiative to act on what God is calling us to do in our lives. Every year we challenge our 8th grade students to get out of their comfort zone and be a part of the SunRise Confirmation class. This year confirmation classes begin on Sunday October 9th at 9:45am. This is a great opportunity for 8th graders (and older) to learn about the basics of the Christian faith. Sign-ups can happen on the SunRise App, or at www.sunrisefamily.org/events.

In our pick verse today, Peter closes out the second chapter of this letter as he continues to outline ways that our relationship with Jesus will change the other relationships in our lives. Peter equates our before Jesus life, as being sheep who often times have a tendance to wander into trouble and danger. As our shepherd and overseer, Jesus brings order and purpose to our confused lives when we turn to Him. The metaphor of shepherd is well-noted throughout scripture. David, in one of the toughest times of his life, wrote that the Lord was his shepherd. Jesus on more than one occasion self-identified as being the “good shepherd”. We can rest securely in the promise that as our shepherd, God always has our best interest at the foundation of His word, His way, His will.

Blessings
