Tuesday – September 27th – 1 Peter 3:8     -----

3:8) Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE PROPHETS LAID BARE THE MORAL AND SPIRITUAL CONDITION OF THE NATION.*

Welcome to Tuesday!  The inspirational thought for today directly corresponds with the reason so many of God’s true prophets had such a short prophetic career. Few people, then or now, want to hear the true nature of their moral and spiritual condition, and even few nations want to have this word from God laid out for all to hear. Most prophets ended up being considered crazy or put to death by someone who had power over them. Is it any wonder we have so few prophets of God today. As Beth and I are again nearing completion of the Old Testament in our reading through the Bible in a year program, the words of the ancient prophets are not very far off the mark for today’s world. The moral and spiritual conditions of the souls of even professing Christians would give plenty of fodder for the prophetic words of Amos, Joel, Micah, and the others who attempted to call a nation back to faithfully walk with the Lord. If you haven’t invested time in the messages of the prophets, take some time to read and reflect – it will change your life and strengthen your faith.

In our pick verse today, Peter begins a wrap up of his teachings on Christian relationships, seen specially through the lens of marriage, and in general for all relationships. His words of unity, sympathy, and love all point to the attitude that we are (stealing from Paul) not to think more highly of ourselves but treat all people with respect and dignity. We are to seek a sense of unity, being people of one mind who are first focused on Jesus’ teachings. As members of a unified spiritual family, it will help us to see the needs of others more clearly and work together to make a difference in people’s lives. When we possess a tender heart, we become sensitive to others and how we can walk alongside in spiritual matters. The old saying states that we are better together especially when we have in us the mind or attitude of Christ Jesus.

Blessings
