Thursday – September 29th – 1 Peter 3:10-11 -----
3:10) For "Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit;
11)let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
LET US PRAY NOT FOR LIGHTER BURDENS BUT FOR STRONGER BACKS.*
Good Thursday to you! I tend to welcome and love Thursdays, as they remind me the week is almost over and that I am only one day away from what is typically a day out of the office for me. I hope you are as equally excited about today being Thursday. Our inspirational thought for today would in my estimation be a thought primarily, if not exclusive, to Christianity. Who else in the world would/should/could welcome the reality of burdens with a spirit of overcoming and spirit-filled endurance? Even with all my own words of encouragement I still struggle at times when I prefer for God to ease the burden instead of seeking strength for the journey. I also know from experience that struggles have provided some of the greatest moments of growth in my life and have filled me with wisdom and compassion for others. While I won’t intentionally invite burdens, but with the strength of God on my side I will work through them when they come my way.
In our pick verse today, Peter continues to expand on the importance of being of one mind with Christ and one with other believers. Peter could as easily be writing this section of his letter to Christian congregations today. Peter’s instruction to speak well actually begin in our brains where our thoughts are formed. Yes, there are those times when my mouth out maneuvers my brain allowing words to come out that are not up to the standards of being a follower of Jesus. This same phenomenon easily happens in our virtual culture today with the tips of fingers as well as the tips of tongues. God desires for His followers to experience a full and satisfying life on earth as we wait for our perfect life in Heaven. The only way to true happiness is to follow God’s will, God’s word, and God’s way as we do God’s work.
