Saturday – October 8th – 1 Peter 4:1-2     -----

4:1) So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
2) You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THERE IS NO TRIAL SO BIG THAT IT CANNOT BE CONQUERED BY CHRISTIAN HOPE.*

Good Saturday! I am excited about the start on Sunday of the new SunRise series “The Revolutionary Disciple”. Over the next six weeks we will be exploring what the Bible says about the role of being a fully committed follower of Jesus. Surprisingly we will quickly discover that a revolutionary disciple is a person who has learned to walk humbly in the Lord and who lives their life as one who is willing to obediently follow the word, way, and will of God. For the devil and his legion of demons, the scariest disciples on earth are those who submit to the authority of God in their lives. People steeped in spiritual humility possess one of the greatest spiritual warfare weapons available to followers of Jesus. The devil uses human pride to disrupt individual lives, destroy relationships, and derail the Kingdom work of the church. You can see why I am over the top excited about what we will learn that can put the devil in the corner on his heels.

In our pick verses today, we begin chapter four of Peter’s first letter to the Jewish Christians living primarily in what is now modern-day Turkey. The great thing is that the context of this letter easily spans the entire course of Christianity around the world. Suffering is inescapable for believers of any generation (albeit different). As our perfect example, Jesus suffered and died to deliver us from the penalty of our sin. When the results of His suffering become a reality in our lives, we will to be controlled by lure of sin temptations. When we allow the Holy Spirit to fill our lives and to take lead of our thoughts, we will have the power to avoid all types of sinful desires and instead live in a state of holiness of heart and life. Just imagine how joyful life can be when we no longer seek the desires fostered by a fallen world.
