Sunday – October 9th – 1 Peter 4:3     ------

4:3) You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
     DEATH DIED WHEN CHRIST AROSE.*

Holy and Happy Sunday to you! If you are not one of the blog readers who are also doing the Daily Walk Bible reading plan, you can probably still figure out where our daily reading landed us today. Yes, we concluded the Gospel of Matthew with his view of the death and resurrection of Jesus. What a great reminder of the reason we are followers of Jesus as we walk into month of October – positioned midway between Easter 2022 and Easter 2023. For a Christian the Easter story is in vogue no matter the time of year. Everything in the Old Testament points to Easter, while everything in the New Testament begs for our individual response to the reality of the resurrection of Jesus. The whole of Christianity is centered around God’s desire to redeem us lost sinners and return us back to the Kingdom of Heaven. So let me be the first today to say to you Happy Easter!

In our pick verse today, we continue to explore Peter’s current topic on how Christians are to live their lives in service for, and in relationship with God. Every person who has ever entered into a relationship with God comes with baggage from their past. Some folks may only be carrying a small overnight bag while other folks arrive with a double set of overstuffed luggage. No matter your pre-Christian resume, God treats all sin the same, because any sin, regardless of size or amount equally serves to separate us from God. In today’s verse Peter provides a very incomplete checklist of those things that get in the way of our relationship with God. Just because your particular “sin” is not listed doesn’t meant it is exempt from the exhaustive list that Jesus died for, and for what we have received God’s forgiveness.

Blessings
