Sunday – October 16th – 1 Peter 4:12-13     -----

4:12) Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.
13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHEN YOU PRAY, MAKE SURE YOUR WILL IS IN NEUTRAL SO GOD CAN SHIFT IT.*

Aah it’s Sunday! That is the sound of relief because we have arrived at our traditional day of worshipping God. No matter how hard the week may have been there is something about finishing the weekend spending time with God while surrounded by other believers. Our inspirational thought for today is a “reality check” reminder about our relationship with God. When we prayer we are invited into a conversation with the creator of all that exists. It is only when we truly realize the magnitude of God’s power can we fully appreciate the importance of going to prayer without an agenda. If we share our concern, our need, our question, God will be able to direct us onto the right path. My struggles come when I think I know more than God in how my prayers should be answered – and then get mad at God when He fails to give into my demands. I am convinced our current SunRise series on humility, obedience, and submission play into this prayer equation.

In our pick verse today, Peter is encouraging those who are suffering persecution as result of their unwavering faith in Jesus. In fact, Peter clearly states that being a follower of Jesus brings with it unavoidable challenges to our faith. The evil one is dedicated to trick us into believing that we can live a enjoyable life without faith or a relationship with God. Even better, the devil is a master at taking our faith and nudging us ever so slightly offline from the truth that we are blinded to the actual truths that God gives us in scripture. Peter teaches that instead of becoming obsessed with attempts to avoid persecution (another tactic of the devil is distraction from duties) we should rejoice that we are considered dangerous enough enemy by the devil for him to come after us. In the midst of your times of persecution, remember complete victory is already ours through our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Blessings
