Wednesday – October 19th – 1 Peter 4:17-18 -----
4:17) For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?
18) And also, “If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?”
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FAITH NEVER KNOWS WHERE IT IS BEING LED, BUT IT LOVES AND KNOWS THE ONE WHO IS LEADING.*
Welcome to Wednesday! Our inspirational thought for today speaks directly to the heart and foundation of having a faith in Christ. The second part of this inspirational thought is what makes it entirely unique for followers of Jesus. Faith in general could be invested in a variety of things in life. We could have faith each year that the Cardinals or Blues would win world championships. We could speak to a faith that we anticipate getting a promotion or a raise in our income. All these things require participation and action by other humans to become a reality. However, a follower of Jesus places their faith in the promises of God who will always walk with them through every step of life. King David knew the presence of God but not the destination when he penned that God walks with him through the valley of the shadow of life’s trials. Becoming a follower of Jesus requires us following a new leader.
Our pick verse today is where Peter places the divine dividing line between those who accept Jesus as their savior and those who continue to reject the eternal words of salvation. God uses the persecution of His people as “judgement” to purify and discipline them in this present life. If we who are saved will stand in judgement at the close of the world (thanks be for Jesus interceding on our behalf), imagine how much worse God’s final judgement will be on those who refuse His unconditional love and grace filled forgiveness. One more reason we need to act with a sense of urgency to share the gospel with others.
Blessings
