Friday – November 4th – 1 Peter 5:9 -----
5:9) Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE FIND IT EASIER TO GO TO CHURCH THAN TO BE THE CHURCH.*
Welcome Friday! Our inspirational thought today comes for the readings associated with the early days of the church as it begins to scatter out from Jerusalem. Having seen, heard, or even knowing someone who had been around Jesus certainly created a vibrant and passionate group of first century believers who were all about sharing their faith. Now, nearly 2000 years after the fact, the zeal and excitement of being the church has been replaced by simply doing church. A simple question to ask is “why”, yet the answer can be complicated and varies with every individual. The only one who can truthfully answer “why” we find it easier to “go” than “be” is the person we see in the mirror. Excuse me while I go spend some intentional soul-searching time questioning the reflection before me.
In our pick verse today, Peter continues his teaching on how to gain victory through spiritual warfare. Peter calls out the devil as a non-relenting enemy and it is our role to realize that we must be persistent and perpetual in our spiritual warfare defense. Peter provides us with an additional and vital piece of spiritual armor. We are to understand that when we are alone, we become an easier target for the devil. When we feel weak, helpless, and/or cut off from the encouragement of other believers we can become so focused on our troubles that we forget to watch for danger and open ourselves to Satan’s attacks. We are to take courage in remembering that as Christians we are steadfastly united with other believers who are under these same pressures and attacks. Together we are stronger and together we accomplish strength and safety in numbers.
Blessings
