Sunday – November 6th – 1 Peter 5:12 -----
5:12) I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FORCE MAY SUBDUE, BUT LOVE GAINS; AND THE PERSON THAT FORGIVES FIRST WINS THE LAUREL.*
Blessed and joyous Sunday to you! God has given us another awesome day to spend time worshiping Him and gathering together with other believers. Even if you are a SunRise online worshiper there is still the opportunity to feel connected with folks on your screen, who seeing them might be just the encouragement we need to serve or survive another week. If you are an inbuilding attendee, then the opportunity for conversational fellowship can open the door for both being inspired and accountable. What a great place to practice the revolutionary discipleship traits of humility, obedience, and submission, before we head out into the world. The ultimate goal of being a revolutionary disciple is to lean into God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and God’s when. That kind of commitment will be the best form of witness to a world desperate for an anchor of stability in a whirlwind of chaos.
In our pick verse today, Peter begins bringing this letter to a close by summarizing his intent in writing to these first century believers. Silas (Silvanus in other translations) was Peter’s scribe for this letter, but as we read, he was lifted up as a trustworthy worker alongside Peter and was also charged with carrying this letter to the first set of readers. The overall intent of this letter was to remind believers throughout the Roman Empire that Christians everywhere were suffering persecution because of their unwavering passion of believing in Jesus. At every turn they were tempted by the world to denounce their faith and return to their old ways. Peter encourages them to hold fast and stand strong with help from the Holy Spirit. His words should still echo in our hearts and minds today as we face each day as a follower of Jesus.
Blessings
