14) Greet each other with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
DO NOT EXPECT GOD TO USE YOU AS A LIGHTHOUSE SOMEWHERE ELSE IF GOD CANNOT USE YOU AS A CANDLE RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE.*

Good Monday to you! As we being this new week what goals have you put in place to be a revolutionary disciple – at home, in church, out in the world? Our inspirational thought for today fits hand in glove with our study on being a revolutionary for the Kingdom of Heaven. We have studied in the scriptures that God has a calling on each of our lives that correspond to the spiritual gifts we have received from the Holy Spirit. How we serve God where we are planted is the perfect barometer as to how God may use us in the future. Our natural human tendencies – encouraged by the tempting of the evil one – are to seek places and positions that could shift the glory and honor away from God and place it on ourselves. God is more concerned with our humility in serving, than in the accomplishments of our serving. Let your candle shine today so that others might know the way to Jesus.

Our pick verses conclude Peter’s first letter to believers throughout the Roman Empire who were experiencing suffering and persecution for believing in Jesus. His interesting reference to the “church in Babylon” probably was a coded, way, known only to other believers, that places him in the city of Rome, the center of worldly power in that day. Peter’s mention of Mark is the first connection recorded between the two in scriptures. In other places Mark is found in the book of Acts and is mentioned by Paul in his writings. Mark is probably the author of the gospel bearing his name – which many biblical scholars believe is Peter’s perspective on the life of Jesus. Even though a “kiss” was a standard greeting in the first century, it is interesting that the early Christians continued this practice even though Judas used it as an indicator for identifying Jesus to the temple soldiers. Believing in Jesus will overshadow those things that Satan tries to pass off as being evil. Yes, it is the job of Satan to make good look evil, and to make sin become acceptable. Don’t fall for his tricks

Blessings
