Wednesday – November 16th – 2 Peter 1:10-11     -----

1:10) So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
11) Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE AUTHORITY FOR FAITH IS THE REVELATION OF GOD.*

Welcome to Wednesday! Our inspirational thought for today reminds us of the importance of knowing the source of true faith. There are many things in this world that suggest the need for an act of faith on our part. Some items, events, activities, or expectations gain our faith because previous experiences have proven trustworthy. We have faith the sun will come up in the east each morning. We have faith that in case of an accident the air bags in our cars will correctly deploy. However true faith in the things of God require us to accept what will be, will happen without solid proof or historical evidence. We place our faith in Jesus for our eternal salvation when our time on earth is completed. To date, other than Jesus, no one has returned from Heaven to give us a first-hand report. As Paul wrote in Hebrews – “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not yet seen.” Works for me!

In our pick verses today, Peter continues to expand on the importance of the Christian virtues and values lifted up in the preceding verses. Peter is quick to point out that a faith-filled life requires participation and action on our part. In some ways he is suggesting our salvation, while a gift from God, is not automatic without a follow-up response on our part. Peter understood that “believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth” was not to be done with only lip service. True believing will produce a response on our part to diligently cultivate these graces in our life. As we grow these virtues, they will produce a sweet fruit of faithfulness that others will be drawn to in their life.

Blessings
