Thursday – November 17th – 2 Peter 1:12-13     -----

1:12) Therefore, I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.
13) And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SACRIFICE IS THE ECSTASY OF GIVING THE BEST WE HAVE TO THE ONE WE LOVE THE MOST.*

Happy Thursday to you! On Tuesday I mentioned that now is a great time to begin setting our personal discipleship goals for 2023. One option I am really excited about is the new “Journey Of A Lifetime” study which is an overview of each book of the Bible. To better facilitate the busy lives of folks the class will be offered in 6 or 7 weekly segments over the course of eighteen months. Our first segment, January 4th – February 15th, will cover an introduction to the Old Testament plus the first five books of the Bible. The second segment, March 1st – April 5th will introduce the New Testament, the Gospels, and the book of Acts. The option exists to do all the segments or just the ones you are interested in or are available for. You can sign-up now at either the SunRise Website or SunRise App under the “events” section. The workbook for the class is $15 and will be ordered by the church to pick up beginning in mid-December, so you’re signing up is very helpful for us to have enough books.

In our pick verses today, Peter reminds the believers of the truths of the Gospel and how, as a result of these truths, they should live holy lives. In verses 5-11 of this chapter, Peter summarized these non-negotiable truths and as we will read, he will extend this crucial reminder throughout the rest of this letter. Peter understands the importance of including established and mature Christians in his reminders, just as it is necessary for new believers to hear and accept the Gospel message. This is why every believer, regardless of the years they have believed, need to be intentional in developing and implementing a discipleship growth strategy throughout their entire lives. Peter, without using our 21st century term, is instilling the concept of accountability within the lives of believers. The more we grow in faith the more we are able to resist the devil when he comes after us.

Blessing
