Friday – November 18th – 2 Peter 1:14-15 -----
1:14) For our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me that I must soon leave this earthly life,
15) so I will work hard to make sure you always remember these things after I am gone.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
NO PERSON IS LIVING AT HIS OR HER BEST WHO IS NOT LIVING AT HIS OR HER BEST SPIRITUALLY.*
Hello Friday! Yes, it is Friday, and no matter the weather outside we are on the doorstep of another weekend. This is also one of the few remaining free Saturdays on the SunRise calendar for 2023. So, it is a great weekend to take care of all that home stuff before Thanksgiving next week. Our inspirational thought for today strikes to the heart of being a follower of Jesus. When we do our best, it is always filtered through the depth of our relationship with Jesus. Yes, we can be the best according to the standards of the world, but scripture teaches us that the efforts of earth fail in comparison to the glory of God. Awards, medals, prizes, and accolades can be encouragement for our earthly activities but our very best is acknowledged when we hear the voice of God say well done good and faithful servant. How might you serve God today that equates to our being our spiritual best?
In our pick verses today, Peter concludes this section on the blessings of God’s promise and our responsive practice of holiness living. Peter’s revelation that his time on earth was growing short was foretold at the end of John’s gospel when the resurrected Jesus appeared to the disciples on the seashore. Peter understood the importance of sharing the gospel so others would know what he had experienced in his life as a follower of Jesus. Peter gives his readers the modern-day version of never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. The reality of life waits for no one, so the urgency to share the gospel with people should not wait if the opportunity is presented to us today. Peter was more concerned with the generations that followed to remember what he taught about Jesus than to remember the name of Peter. Such humility is what made him a revolutionary disciple for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessings
