Sunday – November 20th – 2 Peter 1:19     -----

1:19) Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD’S GIFT TO YOU IS OFTEN GOD’S GIFT TO OTHERS THROUGH YOU.*

In our pick verse today, Peter leverages his experience of the transfiguration of Jesus to tie in the words of the ancient prophets as a way to ensure his readers that Jesus is the long-promised and prophesied Messiah of the Jews. For Peter, the scripture of Judaism (our Old Testament) is a light that shines in the dark world to guide the Jewish people to Jesus. For us the entirety of the scriptures (old and new testaments) is the light that will guide us until the day of Jesus’ return when we are fully glorified by Christ the “bright and morning star”. Everything in scripture was inspired by God and written through the power of the Holy Spirit to point humanity to Jesus as the savior of the world. While there will always be places in scripture where cultural differences or hidden meanings will lead to debates, there is no room to debate or doubt the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as the gift of salvation to sinful humanity.

Blessings
