2:1) But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OUR FRIENDS TAKE US TO THE GRAVE AND LEAVE US THERE, BUT GOD WILL NOT.*

Good Tuesday to you! I distinctly remember our inspirational thought from when I read it last year. Partially because of my background in the funeral industry, yet more so because of the even more powerful reminder of what it means to have Jesus on your side. I have witnessed far too many funerals where Jesus was not a welcomed part of the grieving process. Folks had gone their entire lives without a connection to Jesus, or a church, or a pastor. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 states that God does not want us to be like those who grieve as if there is no hope. Yet for those without Jesus in their lives that is exactly how they grieve. We can not rely on the wisdom of the world to save our souls when we die. Friends, families, ideologies, philosophies, or even good intentions can only carry us so far in this life. It is the blood of Jesus that opens the door for your life eternal in Heaven. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

In our pick verse today, Peter opens a new chapter focusing on the judgement coming to false teachers of the Gospel. Probably should insert a warning at this point. If you find yourself always fighting against what Scripture states, if you hear the chatter of the world more than the voice of God through His holy word, then I would suggest you might want to take a break from the blog for the remainder of this month. Chapter two is not for the weak in spirit, our for those who are easily led astray by the tempting of the devil. See you in December. If you are still reading then let’s jump in, along with Peter, with both feet. False prophets or false teachers are those who, in falling to temptation themselves, are leading Christians away from the truth of God. False teachers of every age will encourage slightly off-base teachings, (still considered heresies) that ultimately lead to an individual’s destruction and eternal punishment.  These “almost truths” are the devil’s most effective spiritual warfare tactic because it downplays the sting of sin and its eternal effect on believers.

Blessings
