Saturday – December 3rd – 2 Peter 2:21-22     -----

2:21) It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.
22) They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OUR GOD HAS A BIG ERASER.*

Good Saturday to you! Saturday means the weekend, but also means that Sunday is coming. This Sunday at SunRise we celebrate the second week of advent and light the candle of peace as we focus on God’s peace that passes all human understanding. In our advent series – “Through The Eyes Of A Child” we will be talking about how weather can either be an adulthood stress or a childlike joy. Join us online or inbuilding as we learn to be more childlike in our faith and our approach to the celebration of Christmas.

In our pick verses today, Peter closes out this second chapter as well as his focus on the sickness that resides within false teachers of religion. Peter alludes to the fact that the false teachers he is dealing with in the first century churches had once been counted among the believers. But through the tempting of the devil, they choose to forsake God’s truth and instead follow the desires of their hearts. Using an illustration, that was not lost on his Jewish audience members Peter refers to these false teachers as both dogs and pigs. In Jewish culture there was nothing lower than these two animals. Peter reminds his readers that all believers must be watchful for the schemes of the evil one as human nature is easily tempted to return to their pre-conversion nature. Only when we lean into the power and protection of God can we successfully resist the devil’s attacks.

Blessings
