Wednesday – December 7th – 2 Peter 3:8-9     -----

3:8) But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
9) The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Welcome to Wednesday my friends! Continuing yesterdays Christmas countdown list of SunRise activities the handbell choir is putting the final touches on their songs for this coming Sunday at 8am. The Seeds choir is also putting in their final practice to open the 9:45am service this Sunday. If you love music, then this would be a great Sunday to join us at both services. And as a bonus you get to hear the message twice. Be sure and check out all the great events at either the SunRise website or on the SunRise app.

In our pick verses today, Peter concludes this sub-section where he is calling out the errors of the false teachers who were attempting to push believers away from the truth about God. I am sure one of the questions Peter often heard was why was God taking so long to punish these who were leading people astray. Folks were becoming impatient for the second coming of Jesus and the final judgement. Peter’s response was that God’s timeline and human timing are two vastly different things. What may seem like a delay to us does not seem long to God. The Lord has not forgotten His promise to return. He is waiting so that more people will have the opportunity to be saved. Maybe he is waiting for someone you know and that you love. Jesus’ return will come at the perfect moment in history, and it will be a moment that brings all praise, honor, and glory to God.

Blessings
