 Monday – December 12th – 2 Peter 3:17-18     -----

3:17) You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.
18) Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE FAINTEST WHISPER OF ENCOURAGEMENT UTTERED TO A CHRISTIAN BROTHER OR SISTER IS HEARD IN HEAVEN.*

Good Monday to you! As we start this new week in our role of representing and serving the creator of the universe our inspirational thought gives us a perfect item to add to our “to do” list. Our culture is far short today on words of kindness shared with others in our lives. The tempting of the evil one is to engage in the negative aspect of words spoken, words written, or words posted. Negativity breeds negativity and we are then so easily caught up in the downward spiral of conversational garbage. With the celebration of the birth of Jesus fast approaching let us dedicate this week to speaking encouraging words, living out kind gestures, and presenting uplifting attitudes. If we do nothing more this week than this one thing, we will represent Jesus well.

In our pick verses for today, we close out the book of 2 Peter. You must give Peter credit that he was challenging early believers to the very last word of this letter. Peter draws on the fact that we know what we already know and that is why we should hold fast to the truth of God taught by him and the other apostles. False teachers will invade every generation of believers with words that appeal to our thinking, and as Paul stated to Timothy, and tickle our itching ears. Satan is ruthless and deceptive in making sin seem acceptable and the word of God as archaic and outdated. Peter is straightforward in stating that the outcome of embracing these false teachings is a fall from God’s grace and a lose of our salvation. While that may seem harsh, the reality is that our salvation is based on believing in, and completely trusting, God’s word, God’s will, God’s way, and God’s when, and not the wishes, hopes, desires, or agenda harbored in our heads. Peter’s final words resonate with, and are relevant for, believers today – “be on guard”.

Blessings
