Tuesday – December 13th – Intro to 1 John     -----

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
LIVE YOUR LIFE IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT WOULD NOT MAKE SENSE IF GOD DID NOT EXIST.*

Hello Tuesday. What a great inspirational thought for us today and what a great way to outline the life of a believer. Often our first thought about being a witness for Jesus centers on being able to speak eloquently and authoritatively about what is in the Bible. This misguided concept has left many wonderful Christians thinking they have fallen short of being a faithful follower of Jesus. Don’t worry, God has a better plan for us. The greatest witness we have at our disposal is how we live our lives. There is always someone watching, listening, or reading the way we present ourselves out in the world. If others see in us a life that is congruent with Jesus, then we have successfully planted major seeds for the Kingdom of Heaven. Our actions will always speak louder than words and will be the best indicator of our connection and commitment to Jesus.

Today we begin a new book of the Bible. The book of 1 John is the sixty-second book of holy scripture, which leaves us with four remaining. With today being December 13th and only 17 days to follow in 2023 I can say with certainty that we will not finish out the rest of the Bible this year.  John writes his first of three short letters to the believers in the city of Ephesus sometime between 85AD and 90AD. John used this letter to reaffirm the uniqueness of both Jesus’ full humanity and divinity. He also encourages the believers in Ephesus to share in his joy by walking in God’s light of truth, by loving one another, and knowing they have waiting for them the gift of eternal life. We will also read how John wants them to understand that those who love God cannot love the world and continue in a life of sin. As has been the case with both Paul and Peter, he also warns them of false teachers who deny the truth about who Jesus is and who Jesus represents. I will warn you that John is bold and direct and pulls no punches when it comes to the expectation of a life in Christ.

Blessings
