Saturday – December 24th – 1 John 2:2     -----

2:2) He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE ARE NOT CHRIST’S LAWYERS; WE ARE HIS WITNESSES.*

Merry Christmas Eve to you my blog reading friends. As each of us gather for our own tradition to celebrate the day before the birth of Jesus, may your time include a moment of pause to think about how God was preparing to break into the timeline of human history. Our inspirational thought for today is a great reminder that as followers of Jesus our primary role is to witness to our faith and not defend our faith before others. Our lives should be a living example of what Jesus means to us. When folks observe us, they should see in us the heart of the Gospel. I have discovered that more often than not when I go into a discussion/debate defending Jesus, I am talking with folks who already have their minds made up about the subject. But when my life reflects the mind of Jesus than it serves to draw folks into discussion about my faith.

In our pick verse of today, John speaks into the truth of the gospel message. By His sacrificial death Jesus became our propitiation (the intentional act of appeasing a god), by removing the penalty for our sin and making available for each of us a way back to God centered relationship. It is God Himself who provided this sacrifice for our benefit. Thus, forgiveness and cleansing are available to the whole world, but only enjoyed by those who intentionally repent and believe in Jesus. While Christmas focuses on the birth of Jesus, we shouldn’t forget that He was born to die as our savior. When we celebrate this kind of faith, we become the witness that Jesus desires us to be.

Blessings
