Sunday – December 25th – 1 John 2:3-4     -----

2:3) And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.
4) If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
JESUS IS GOD SPELLING HIMSELF OUT IN LANGUAGE THE WORLD CAN UNDERSTAND.*

Merry Christmas Day! Yes, the day has finally arrived, let the celebrations begin with family and friends and may they be filled with laughter, love, and peace. Our inspirational thought speaks into the heart of the reason for the season. This season is all about God’s desire to bring us back into perfect relationship with Him. We celebrate Jesus’ birth when, as John put it, - “the word became flesh and dwelt among us”. When we embrace the connection between God’s word and the words spoken by Jesus, we can see the importance of our speaking the language of our savior. God loves us so much that He left the splendor of Heaven to win us back from the evil one. Today celebrate God’s love for you and then share that love with others.

In these two verses today, John shows both sides of the human mind. On one hand when we know and believe in Jesus it is because we joyfully and obediently keep his commandments for our life. True Christian faith results in our modeling loving behavior, that is why John says that the way we act can give us assurance that we belong to Jesus. On the other hand, if we only speak about who Jesus is, but we fail to be obedient to God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and God’s when then we are trying to exist outside the truth of God. While that might be possible for a short period of time, long term it continues to keep us away from all that God desires to bless us with in this life, and in life eternal. As you celebrate the birth of Jesus let that celebration continue throughout your lifetime.

Blessings
