Wednesday – January 4th – 1 John 2:22-23

2:22) And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.
23) Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE BEST WAY TO PUT AN IDEA ACROSS IS TO WRAP IT UP IN A PERSON.*

Welcome to this first Wednesday in 2023. I heard a news story the other day that stated the week between Christmas and New Years is one where folks easily lose track of what day of the week it is. I can attest to the validity of that statement and just today seem to be getting back to a somewhat normal knowledge of the day of the week. This also reminded me of the early months of the pandemic’s “stay at home” time. It was very easy to forget what day of the week it was when each day seemed to be the same repetitive pattern. In fact, that is when I started adding the day of the week to the scripture blog – to help all of us out. As we move into 2023, my prayer is that each of us are laser-focused on the mission God has called us to be part of in the Kingdom of Heaven. If your service to God is like mine, no two days are alike.

In our pick verses today, John reveals one of the greatest mysteries of Christianity. Many folks are only familiar with John’s writings in the Book of Revelation when he speaks of the “antichrist”. Countless hours of debates and discussions have pondered who is the antichrist of which John speaks. Well, if they had taken the time to read John’s first letter it is clearly explained in today’s verses. The greatest liar is a person who denies Jesus is the Promised One whom God sent to save the world. To deny that Jesus is truly the divine Son of God is to lose fellowship with the Father, because there is no other way to the Father but through the Son. The antichrist is anyone who denies Jesus as the savior of the world. Don’t be an antichrist – believe in the saving power of Jesus.

Blessings
