Friday – January 6th – 1 John 2:26-27     -----

2:26) I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray.
27) But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MANY PEOPLE HAVE TURNED AND LEFT THE DOCK JUST BEFORE THEIR SHIP CAME IN.*

Hello Friday. Our inspirational thought for today is one that can bring a quick smile to your face and then immediately punch you in the gut. Yes, I will confess my sin of impatience. I suffer from the tragic spiritual disease of including in way too many of my statements: “I can’t wait until….”. Probably many of us are guilty of the sin of rushing through the moment while wishing for the future. This inspirational thought sums up the reality of not waiting on the Lord while He works in His own perfect and precise timing. The analogy of missing the ship coming in describes our desire to moving on to the next big thing because we have become impatient with God. Ask Abraham how that worked out when God was slow on fulfilling His promise of a son for him and Sarah.

In our pick verses today, we continue to hone our skills of knowing between God’s truth and the devil’s lies. The devil is crafty in deceiving people to do his bidding in destroying relationships with God. The false teachers of any generation have been duped by the deceiver to teach things that led folks away from the truth of God. We Christians may be encouraged by Johns words of warning, but better yet, we are fully protected when we lean into the anointing of the Holy Spirit. God fully abides in the life of a Christian through the continuing presence of His Holy Spirit, and conversely the Christian therefore abides in the fullness of God. The anointing of the Holy Spirit enables us to distinguish truth from error in all things pertaining to our walk with God. In the words of the great 70’s rock band The Who – we “won’t get fooled again”.

Blessings
