Monday – March 6th – 3 John 1:4 -----
1:4) I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A PERSON CAN’T GO ANYWHERE WHILE HE OR SHE IS STRADDLING A FENCE.*
Welcome to Monday! We kick off this new week with a great inspirational thought that sets the bar for our discipleship being lived out in real time. The image this thought creates is priceless. Having grown up on a farm and on more than one occasion straddling a fence was the quickest and most efficient way to cross over to the other side. However, when it comes to real life, many folks find themselves frozen in place while straddling the fence on current day issues, uncertain which way to land. This inspirational thought was taken from the readings associated with the final words of Joshua (in the book that bears his name). In his final speech he challenges the nation of Israel to choose whom they will serve – the gods of the land’s inhabitants, or serve the one true God who led them to the promised land. Friends, don’t be naïve, we live with those same choices each and every day when we straddle between the devil’s influences on our world, or choose to trust in God’s promises and protections. Joshua concluded his speech by stating that he and his household, they would serve the Lord. What is your answer on this first Monday in March 2023?
In our pick verse today, John expresses his great joy in the work and spiritual life of his friend Gaius. No matter the generation, true servants of God experience their greatest joy when their spiritual children remain faithful to the truth of the Gospel. Against tremendous societal pressures and cultural influences, Gaius weighed the evidence and continually chose to service the Lord within his church and community. Even though our inspirational thought and John’s letter are separated by some fourteen hundred years, the practice of choosing whom we will serve is a daily choice for every generation of those who desire a true relationship with God. Who is your spiritual mentor and how would they observe your life being lived out? Who are you mentoring in the way of faith that, like John, you can express pure joy at their spiritual growth?
Blessing
