Hurray for Saturday and the beginning of an exciting weekend for SunRise. Tomorrow is the third Sunday in Lent and the third week of our series “Truth Be Told”. This week our featured parable is the story contrasting the wise and foolish builders. Then on Sunday afternoon we will be celebrating with ten of our youth who will be sharing their faith testimonies and making a public affirmation of their faith in Christ. You are invited to join us at 5pm in the SunRise worship space to supportive these new lives in the Kingdom of Heaven.
In our pick verse today, John is beginning to draw his third letter to a close. Biblical scholars believe that Demetrius was probably the carrier of this letter. His character was attested to by fellow Christians, by his life based on the Gospel truth, and by the apostle John himself. John thought Demetrius might help the situation in Gaius’s church and support the members there. Makes we wonder if God views our discipleship walk in the same plane as Demetrius. Would God send us to a place that needs guidance, truth, and support? Our everyday actions either prepare us for bigger opportunities to serve the Kingdom of Heaven, or expose our shortcomings. Are we a Gaius/Demetrius or a Diotrephes?
