The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought:
THE BEST THING TO DO BEHIND A PERSON’S BACK IS PAT IT.*

Welcome to Wednesday. Oh, what a great inspirational thought for our midweek check-in. While we can’t go back and change what is in the past, we can certainly make an intentional effort to be an encourager going forward. When I read this inspirational thought, the first biblical person to come to mind is the disciple Barnabas, whose name translates “son of encouragement”. Barnabas was noted for being the encourager behind the apostle Paul, and the mentor of young John Mark. As we know, both of these men made significant contributions to the writings in the New Testament. Who might you encounter this week that might need a pat on the back?

In our pick verse today, Jude draws a reference from a non-biblical book written in between the Old and New Testament period. This story relates how after Moses died, Michael the archangel was sent by God to bury him. Because Moses had killed the Egyptian (Exodus 2:12), the devil confronted Michael with the claim the body of a murderer really belonged to the forces of hell. Michael, one of the highest-ranking angels in Heaven, understood both his proper place and the importance of respect for God, did not engage in an argument with Satan, but simply said “the Lord rebuke you!”. While the actuality of this story is unprovable, the lesson it teaches us is timeless, - we are to also understand our place in the Kingdom of Heaven and not engage in argument with the devil or his demons, but instead speak the name of Jesus in prayer as our primary weapon in spiritual warfare.

I love this message! It is so easy to speak unkindly behind someone’s back. What a great reminder to give them a pat on the back instead!
