Sunday – April 2, 2023 - Intro to the book of Revelation -----
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER AT ITS BEST EMPLOYS FOUR STATEMENTS: THANK YOU; I’M SORRY; TEACH ME; GO WITH ME.*
Happy Sunday to you! We have arrived at the last Sunday before Easter and the countdown to the celebration of the empty tomb in Jerusalem. Today is the day we can gather with other believers and start our journey through the Holy Week remembrance of the last days of Jesus’ earthly ministry and life. Each day is filled stories, sayings, and teachings on the ways God intentionally reaches out to us in grace and love. I hope you are able to find time today to worship God in thanksgiving and praise. When considering the importance of regular worship, I saw this rather challenging statement the other day that is intended to hold all of us accountable – parents that treat the church as optional, shouldn't be surprised when their children treat Jesus as unnecessary. Ouch!
Today we open the door to the very last book of the Bible – the book of Revelation. For those who were around at the start of this daily scripture blog way back in January 2018, we have come a long way. So, my friends here it is Revelation. Written in 95 AD by John an apostle of Jesus while exiled on the island of Patmos. It was in this island prison that John receives the vision contained in the book of Revelation. Through a dramatic series of pictures, signs, and symbols, Jesus reveals to John (1:1)— and to all subsequent readers— what will happen at the end of time. John depicts cataclysmic judgment upon the earth, the final destruction of satanic forces, and the beginning of a new heaven and new earth. While it is easy and exciting to get lost in the maze of hidden meanings and futuristic references found in this book, John’s ultimate purpose in is simple and straightforward - to encourage believers to remain faithful to Jesus Christ and to give them (us) hope that they will ultimately be victorious regardless of their current circumstances.
Blessings
