Tuesday – April 4th – Revelation 1:3 -----
1:3) Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OTHERS WILL FOLLOW YOUR FOOTSTEPS MORE EASILY THAN THEY WILL FOLLOW YOUR ADVICE.*
Happy Tuesday to you! What a great inspirational thought for us today. And what a great reminder of the characteristic of a true leader. I have always responded well to leaders who roll up their sleeves and go to work alongside their fellow workers. While some “jobs” may make it impossible because of inflexible role responsibilities to actually work alongside, other jobs give freedom of choice for leaders to engage in everyday tasks. I have also noted from my experiences how effective it is for the overall moral of an organization when leaders chose to do and not settle to merely bark orders at others. I am reminded of John’s version of the upper room wherein Jesus took the lowly position of washing the feet of the disciples before the meal began. This was Jesus’ non-verbal answer to their question of who would be the greatest among them.
In our pick verse for today, John summarizes his overall purpose for writing this letter. He encourages all readers by letting them know that they are divinely blessed who hear and keep these words because his words bring a message from God that has supreme relevance for their current situation and for our lives today. This prophecy while often speaking of future events, also calls us to obedience and faithfulness in the here and now. We are to read these words of this book with a reminder that God is seeking our personal obedience and faithfulness in spiritual matters, especially when the devil and the nature of this world bring strong challenges in an attempt to undermine our commitment to follow Jesus.
Blessings
