Sunday – April 23rd – Revelation 2:2-3 -----
1:2) “I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars.
3) You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MORE A PERSON TAKES THE NEEDS OF OTHERS TO HEART, THE MORE HE OR SHE WILL TAKE HIS OR HER OWN HEART TO GOD.*
A very blessed Sunday to you. As we prepare to worship today I am reminded of the words God gave Abraham when we promised to make this elderly childless man the father of a great nation. God stated that He would bless Abraham so that in turn Abraham would be a blessing to others. That has long been my goal to always be looking for ways to bless others because God has continually blessed me. God never intends for us to hoard His blessings, but to share them freely and joyfully with others. In fact in the New Testament, we are taught that when we have been faithful in a little, God will then give us opportunity to be faithful with even more. What a great way to give God thanks by being generous with what we have been blessed with in our lives.
In our pick verses today, Jesus jumps into the heart of His letter with a commendation to the church, which will become a repeatable pattern for the other churches. The opening words of verse two should serve as a powerful reminder to every believer that Jesus does in fact know all the things we do, we say, and even what we think. There is nothing that we can successfully hide from the loving and caring eyes of the one who created us in His image and likeness. Because of this fully divine awareness by Jesus the church (believers) in Ephesus were commended because its members had rejected evil and had patiently persevered in their witness for Christ. The early church (as well as the church of today) was constantly under attack from the devil’s deployment of false teachers who promoted off-based faith concepts. Like the believers in Ephesus we are to seek the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit to properly discern what is or isn’t from God. And yes, there will be times when God’s word and our wishes will not be on the same page. The choice is in our court to decide if we follow the way of God or the way of the world.
Blessings
