Happy Saturday to you! I am excited about the next part of the SunRise series “The Incredible Absolutes”. This weekend we add to our discipleship building process the importance of being part of a faith community. The Bible instructs us that we are saved by God’s grace through faith – so none of us could boast about accomplishing it done ourselves. Once we are saved, God has designed the Christian community as the way we can be encouraged and instructed to grow in our faith. Join us in-building at 8am or 9:45am. In our pick verse today, Jesus greets the believers in the church at Philadelphia with titles of holy and true that emphasize His full deity as Christ the King. Through his position of being fully God, Jesus has the supreme authority to permit or deny entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. The reference to the key of David foreshadowed David’s authority over the kingdom of Israel. The power of Jesus is on fully display in this verse in that what He decides cannot be changed by anyone else. The devil may tempt us into believing that we can change/alter/adjust/modify God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and/or God’s when in a way that personally benefits our motives or agendas, but in the end the devil is only speaking lies. Don’t be deceived by the evil one. God’s word is always holy, pure, and unchanging.
